Crunchyroll Announces English Voice Cast for Highly Anticipated Anime ‘Gachiakuta’

Crunchyroll officially announced the full English voice cast for the upcoming shonen anime series Gachiakuta, which premieres globally on July 6. The highly anticipated action series will be available exclusively on Crunchyroll, excluding territories such as Belarus, Russia, and Asia, though it will notably include India.

The story follows Rudo, a young outcast falsely accused of murder and subsequently exiled into a perilous wasteland known as “The Pit.” Struggling to survive against monstrous Trash Beasts and navigating a hostile, dystopian environment, Rudo aims to reclaim his life and seek justice against those who wronged him.

Leading the English voice cast is Bryson Baugus as Rudo. The ensemble also features Christopher Wehkamp as Enjin, Corey Wilder as Zanka, Katie Caruso as Riyo, Zeno Robinson as Jabber, and John Burgmeier as Regto.

Produced by renowned anime studio Bones Film, known for hits like “My Hero Academia” and “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood,” “Gachiakuta” is directed by rising talent Fumihiko Suganuma, marking his directorial debut. The anime is adapted from the manga written by Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou, serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since February 2022. The series composition is led by Hiroshi Seko, acclaimed for his work on “Attack on Titan Final Season,” “Chainsaw Man,” and “Jujutsu Kaisen.” Character design and chief animation direction are overseen by Satoshi Ishino, with the soundtrack composed by renowned music creator Taku Iwasaki.

The manga received notable recognition, winning the Global Special Prize in the Comics category at the Next Manga Awards in 2022.

Crunchyroll also introduced the “Gachiakuta World Takeover,” a global initiative aimed at uniting fans worldwide through premiere events and exclusive fan experiences. Additionally, Crunchyroll has partnered with Sony Music for “The Gachiakuta After Show,” a podcast that will air immediately after each episode, hosted by the acclaimed “The Anime Effect Podcast.”

Advance screenings of the anime will be held worldwide at Global premiere events:

  • Japan: Shinjuku Piccadilly Cinema (Tokyo) – July 4 at 6:30 p.m. JST
  • United States: Anime Expo (Los Angeles) – July 4 at 10:00 a.m. PT
    • Creators Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou will also join panels at Anime Expo, along with series producer Naoki Amano.
  • France: Japan Expo (Paris) – July 4 at 11:45 a.m. CET
  • Brazil: Anime Friends (São Paulo) – Time to be announced
  • Germany: Astor Film Lounge (Berlin) – July 5 at 6:00 p.m. CET
  • India: PVR Icon (Mumbai) – July 4, Time to be announced
  • Italy: The Space Moderno, Piazza della Repubblica (Rome) – July 4 at 6:30 p.m. CET

Fans can tune in to “Gachiakuta” beginning July 6 exclusively on Crunchyroll, with English dubs available on the same day as the Japanese broadcast.

Synopsis: Crawl back from the abyss of Hell to change this lousy world.
