Phoenix Film Festival 2025: A Cinematic Celebration Awaits

The 25th Annual Phoenix Film Festival (PFF) is set to take place from March 27 to April 6, 2025, at Harkins Scottsdale 101 Theatre. With an exciting lineup of films, events, and celebrity appearances, this year’s festival promises to be an unforgettable celebration of cinema.


Opening Night Premiere: The Ballad of Wallis Island

The festival will kick off with the Opening Night Premiere Event on Thursday, March 27, featuring the highly anticipated screening of The Ballad of Wallis Island. Directed by James Griffiths and starring Carey Mulligan and Tom Basden, the film tells the story of Charles, an eccentric lottery winner who dreams of reuniting his favorite musicians, McGwyer Mortimer. As the bandmates and former lovers accept his invitation to perform on Wallis Island, old tensions resurface, jeopardizing the dream gig.

Tickets for the Opening Night event are available for $60 per person or included with a Platinum Pass for $350. Attendees will also enjoy access to the Party Pavilion, which features live music, a silent auction, and complimentary food and cocktails from local restaurants. Proceeds will support the educational initiatives of the Phoenix Film Foundation.


Kids’ Day: A Free Family Event

Mark your calendars for March 29, as PFF presents Kids’ Day at the Party Pavilion Tent. From 10 AM to 3 PM, families can participate in an array of hands-on activities, including an acting station to unleash their inner star, an animation workshop to explore the world of filmmaking, and a green screen photo booth for movie scene magic. Kids can also enjoy makeup and face painting, walk the red carpet for a Hollywood-style photo op, and take part in a storyboard workshop to craft their own film stories.

Two family-friendly films will also be screened during Kids’ Day:

  • A Sloth StoryMarch 29, 9:00 AM: A heartwarming animated film about a sloth named Laura and her quest to save her family’s food truck in a bustling city.
  • The Legend of OchiApril 5, 12:15 PM: Follow the adventure of a shy farm girl named Yuri who befriends a mystical creature known as Ochi.

Admission to Kids’ Day is free and open to the public.


Platoon Reunion Event with Oliver Stone

Film enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Platoon Reunion Event on March 29 at 7:00 PM. Celebrating the legacy of Oliver Stone’s iconic 1986 film, the event will include a special screening followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with Stone and key cast members, including:

  • Capt. Dale Dye (Capt. Harris)
  • Keith David (King)
  • Corey Glove (Francis)
  • Paul Sanchez (Doc)
  • Mark Ebenhoch (Assistant Military Technical Advisor)

In recognition of his contributions to cinema, Oliver Stone will receive the prestigious Copper Wing Tribute Award during the event. Stone is a celebrated filmmaker with multiple Academy Awards, including Best Director for Platoon and Born on the Fourth of July.
