It’s the moment we Pokémon GO Trainers have all been waiting for… Trainer Battles is coming to the game this month! In an unprecedented announcement which makes all the more sense with the Community Day events, Legendary raids and research tasks that helped build up our rosters this year all to prepare us for the ultimate challenge — battling our fellow trainers!
You can challenge any trainer nearby or your Ultra Friends and Best Friends at any distance using a unique Battle Code. Assemble a team of 3 Pokémon and see who comes out on top! When the battle is over, both trainers will receive rewards including rare Evolution items.
To level the playing field so not only trainers with the strongest Pokémon will win, Trainers must compete in the same Battle League which determines the CP limit of Pokémon selected. So strategy and not strength alone will play an important role in winning your battles.
Battles are real time so not turn based like your traditional Pokémon games. You can use both Fast and Charged Attack moves as well as unlocking a bonus Charged Attack for your Pokémon by using Stardust or Candy before the battle. You’ll also be able to deploy a protect shield on your Pokémon a few times during the battle to save them from critical damage so timing is important!
Earn rewards including Stardust once per day when training with team leaders Spark, Candela, and Blanche to help power up your Pokémon. There’s also an Ace Trainer medal you can earn too if you’re diligent!
