James Gunn, the writer-director of “Superman: Legacy,” has added three new actors to the cast: Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Edi Gathegi, according to Vanity Fair.
Fillion will play Guy Gardner, one of the Green Lanterns. Merced will play Hawkgirl, a powerful warrior from Thanagar. Gathegi will play Mister Terrific, a brilliant scientist and inventor. They will be joining David Corenswet who is playing Clark Kent aka Superman, as previously announced, with Rachel Brosnahan as his love interest, Lois Lane.
Fillion is a longtime collaborator of Gunn’s, having appeared in several of his films, including “Slither” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Merced is a rising star who has appeared in films such as “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” and “Transformers: The Last Knight.” Gathegi is a veteran actor who has appeared in films such as “X-Men: First Class” and “House.”
The addition of these three actors to the cast of “Superman: Legacy” is a major coup for DC. Fillion, Merced, and Gathegi are all talented actors who are sure to bring their own unique charisma and star power to the film. Their casting is a sign that DC is serious about expanding its universe and creating films that appeal to a wide range of audiences.
In addition to the casting news, Gunn has also revealed that the film will focus “on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”
