Greg Weisman, creator of the Gargoyles series, responded to a fan on Twitter that reports of a live-action adaptation with Sir Kenneth Branagh directing is false. Disney has yet to confirm or deny these reports.

Academy Award-winning director Sir Kenneth Branagh is reportedly set to direct a live-action adaptation of the classic animated series Gargoyles. The news was first reported by Branagh’s hometown newspaper, The Belfast Telegraph.

The original Gargoyles series aired from 1994 to 1997 and followed a clan of gargoyles who were transported from Scotland to modern-day New York City. The show was known for its blend of action, drama, and humor, and it often explored mature themes such as violence and gun control.

Branagh is a natural fit for the project, as he has a proven track record of directing both big-budget blockbusters and smaller, more character-driven films. His work on films such as Henry V, Hamlet, and Murder on the Orient Express has shown that he is able to bring both historical accuracy and emotional depth to his work.

The Gargoyles live-action film is still in the early stages of development, but it is already generating a lot of excitement among fans of the original series. With Branagh at the helm, this project has the potential to be a truly special film.

The film is being produced by Walt Disney Pictures and no cast has been announced as of yet.
