Saturday May 3, 2014 is Free Comic Book Day!

When it comes to things in life that are advertised as “free,” sadly most of them aren’t. But fear not, true believers, because Free Comic Book Day is not one of those things.

Taking place on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day operates exactly as advertised with local comic book shops setting up tables full of comics available for free from a variety of publishers, and that even includes big names like DC and Marvel. Free Comic Book Day 2014 will be taking place on Saturday, May 3rd with over 60 free comics available to choose from of varying age range, so there’s something for every reader. Looking to prepare for Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film this summer? FCBD will have a Guardians comic available for free. Looking to get in on the ground floor of a brand new ongoing series? DC is offering up Futures End #0, the start of a new upcoming weekly series of the same name continuing in late May. Not to be forgotten, younger readers will be able to dig into such titles as Teen Titans GO!, Power Rangers, Hello Kitty, Spongebob, and more. Did I mention all of these comics will be FREE?

If I sound enthusiastic about FCBD 2014, it’s nothing compared to comic book legend and all-around national treasure Stan Lee, who has recorded the following video encouraging both comic and non-comic readers to check out their local comic book stores this May:
