WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jon Hamm will receive the “CinemaCon® Award of Excellence in Acting” at this year’s CinemaCon, it was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, Managing Director of CinemaCon. CinemaCon, the official convention of The National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), will be held March 24 – 27, 2014, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Hamm will be presented with this special honor at the “The Walt Disney Studios Presentation” to take place on Wednesday morning, March 26, in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
“Between his starring role in the dramatic hit series ‘Mad Men’ and his on-screen performances in such films as ‘The Town’, ‘Friends with Kids’ and ‘Bridesmaids’, Jon Hamm has become one of our most versatile actors today. We are thrilled to be debuting his upcoming movie ‘Million Dollar Arm’ for the industry next week at CinemaCon in Las Vegas,” noted Neuhauser. “CinemaCon could not have picked a more talented actor to receive this year’s ‘Award of Excellence in Acting.’”
Hamm can next be seen in In Walt Disney Pictures’ drama “Million Dollar Arm,” releasing on May 16, 2014. Hamm stars as JB Bernstein whose career as a sports agent rests with finding an exceptionally gifted young cricket pitcher in India, who can be trained for an American major league baseball team. Directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay written by Tom McCarthy, Walt Disney Pictures’ drama “Million Dollar Arm” stars Jon Hamm, Aasif Mandvi, Suraj Sharma, Lake Bell, Madhur Mittal, Pitobash and Alan Arkin. The producers are Mark Ciardi, Gordon Gray and Joe Roth. The executive producers are Palak Patel, Kevin Hollaran, Bill Simmons and Connor Schell.
Best known for his portrayal of Don Draper on AMC’s award-winning drama series “Mad Men” Jon Hamm has earned numerous accolades including a Golden Globe® Award, Television Critics Association Award and a Critics’ Choice Television Award, as well as multiple Emmy® and Screen Actors Guild® nominations.
