I was excited for this book for a number of reasons. I love Steampunk. If I could any literary world to live in it would be a steampunk one, sorry Batman. Something about it makes me all giddy. The second reason is that I am currently in the process of writing my own steampunk novel and I need ideas for clothes and things like that. I’m sorry, I don’t know much about the steampunk concept, other than it looks really awesome I like it.
The book touts itself as how to on making steampunk items. Unfortunately it reads like the instructions of an Ikea desk imported from China. What I mean by that is the designs in the book are more sculpture like items that are non-useable. To call them steampunk is a bit of a stretch. There are no step by step instructions or any discernible order to the photos that depict the process of crafting these sculptures. There isn’t much to say about this one as it was a huge disappointment.
The only thing worthy about this book is that there is a killer painting of a contemporary steampunk city inside the cover. If you’re looking for something steampunk worthy I’d skip this one.
