Tucson, AZ – Over 35,000 participants come together for the annual All Souls Procession. The event is a celebration and mourning of all those who have crossed over from this life. In this day and age, talking about death is taboo and this event attempts to bring all that to life. Participants celebrate their deceased loved ones, remember memories, mourn through acceptance, reflect, and walk for all the souls that have passed on.

Many Mouths One Stomach is the main organizing body for this event as it is not funded in any way by the city. The event costs about $75,000 a year to put on and most of the funds are given by individuals as well as some sponsors.

The parade draws its end near Mercardo San Augustin. The finale site is in full preparation and ready to support all the people who have marched in the parade. The finale commences by having all the procession participants walking on the stage. Then, the burning of the urn begins. The urn contains all the prayers, messages, letters, poems, thoughts, etc. for the people who have passed. As this continues to burn, the procession continues with art, dancing, music, and more.

I go by “Evy”. I’m from Rio Rico, Arizona. I’m a 20-something year old college grad who majored in Political Science and doesn’t follow a bit of politics (by choice). Ignorance is bliss, right? My interests are far-ranging and very diverse, but if it’s somehow linked to living a sustainable life then I’m probably interested. My leisure activities are not few. I tend to use wireless communication as a primary means to avoid doing things or other bits of life. I’m not as much of a social creature as I would like to be when it comes to social media due to my self-conscious issues. I often care way too much about what others think of me. It’s a blessing and a curse. I’ve bounced around online with various aliases that I’ve forgotten or otherwise erased from memory over the years. Oh so many years ago… Other tidbits: Music is my escape from reality. I attended the University of Arizona. My attention span is short. I fell in love with my husband after simply seeing him in a Zelda jacket. I only saw him from behind, mind you. I didn’t know him, nor did he know me. I then asked him out after talking to him three times and now we’ve been together for seven years. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Veni, vidi, vici. I dream of living in a castle with secret doors leading to secret pathways in Australia (it’s a dream, don’t judge me). I’m quite shy in person, but I’m a very different person online and among people like myself. I respect and appreciate any aspiring artist. I try to promote local artists of all kinds. And that is me – in point form anyways… For all the small details, you’ll have to contact me… [email protected]
