King in the North – Royal Reserve Collection

Winter has come, and it comes in the form of a barrel-aged imperial stout. Brewery Ommegang and HBO Licensing & Retail have announced the fourth and final beer in their Royal Reserve Collection, perfect for sustaining any leader through the brutal colds of winter. Each brew in this collection has been designed as an homage to one of the four main figures battling for their place upon the Iron Throne. So, it seems only fitting that the finale to this collection is brewed in honor of the King in the North, John Snow.

King in the North pours as black as night with a thick tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate blend with those of oak, bourbon, and vanilla. Upon tasting, you will find the flavor to be rich with strong notes of vanilla, coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. The taste of smooth bourbon with a hint of oak follow, and the flavor finishes with thick oatmeal creaminess. It is said to be a great dessert beer, and pairs finely with decadent desserts.

Alongside a one-of-a-kind gift pack, King in the North will be released just in time for the holidays. This gift pack will feature four 12 oz. bottles so you can sample each brew from the Royal Reserve Collection. A collectible Game of Thrones glass is also included in this gift set and will retail at $24.99. Or, if you’re more of a single-serving kind of person, you can find King in the North at the brewery and at retail on Black Friday, November 23, on draft and in 750ml bottles, with the suggested price being $12.99 per bottle.

Whatever your preference, King in the North and the rest of the Royal Reserve Collection will definitely be a product to look forward to. Get your frosty mugs ready, for winter has finally come!
