This weekend take a break from your mundane life and head over to the Old Tucson Studios for the 5th annual Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention. While it is not the only Steampunk themed convention you will find, it is the only one that takes place in a western themed town. Become fully immersed in an alternate timeline as you walk the dusty streets, hear bubbling laughter and music drifting out of the main saloon as a Green Lantern cowboy and a steam-powered Boba-Fett saunter by.
Speaking of steam-powered, Steam Powered Giraffe will be returning to this years convention to entertain you along with Unwoman, Cirque des Bêtes, and more for your viewing pleasure. If you’re more of a doer about your entertainment, there will be tea dueling, panels, and workshops covering everything from prop making to Victorian flirting; some of which are needed classes, no matter which genre we’re in.
If looking at pretty things is more your speed there are vendors and shopping a’plenty. From apparel to accoutrements: plenty of shiny things are guaranteed to catch your eye, including a roving pack of Steamgirls (not for sale.) The weather promises to be nice and temperate by Arizona standards and the location is far away from the hustle and bustle of the minor metropolis of Tucson.
So hop in your airship, copper and gear-laden buggy, or even get your steam stilts back from your eccentric uncle and get out to Will Wild West Con! The convention takes place this weekend, March 4-6., general admission to Old Tucson is 10:00 am-6 pm all three days, convention attendees will get to enjoy extended hours and entertainment.. Ticket prices vary, child prices available for children 7-11, kids 6 and under are free.
