San Diego Comic Con is finally upon us!
And this year will mark my first year attending! It has taken me six years to finally being able to go and I couldn’t be more excited. I have a feeling that as soon as I walk thru the doors my head will explode just like in that movie Scanners.
Anyways here is my list of 10 comic books worthy of your loot….
1. The Walking Dead #100
- Robert Kirkman is the man when it comes to big events like this. Will Rick make it out alive? Space travel? One big dream? OH THE ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES…. Regardless if you aren’t reading this, still pick this up. I think something big will come that will shake the earth’s core….. Also there will be 159624963 different variant covers that all look amazing.
2. Batman #11
- I can’t stop talking about Scott Snyder these days. Also we just found out that Snyder/Capullo will be teaming up again for their next Joker Arc! But this issue marks the epic conclusion of the Court of Owls story. I am betting this will be a HOOT.
3. Swamp Thing #11
- This book usually comes out as the same week as A-Man but according to Scott Snyder there was a printing issue last week. But how can you go wrong with ANOTHER Snyder book? Plus Yanick Paquette/ Marco Rudy tag teaming on art make this book a must!
4. American Vampire: Lord of Nightmares #2
- I swear I don’t have an obsession with Scott Snyder but the man is god….Lastly Dustin Nguyen artwork really complements the story. Also this mini-series is new reader friendly!
5. Chew: Secret Agent Poyo (one-shot) #1
- Three reasons to pick this up: John Layman, Ron Guillory, and a Cybernetic chicken. Dishes are done.
6. Spider-Men #3
- Bendis is crafting a sweet story between the 616 Peter Parker and ultimate universe Miles Morales. This book is just a fun summer read!
7. Batman and Robin #11
- Writer Peter Tomasi and Artist Patrick Gleason are cooking up a really cool story. Damian is set to defeat all the other Robins to prove he is worthy of the robin title. Plus this book always has the coolest covers!
8. Before Watchmen: Minutemen #2
- Is it me or is this prequel event boring? The only book I have enjoyed thus far is Minutemen but only because of Darwyn Cook. I love his art style and writing style. Just one wish: MORE HOODED JUSTICE!
9. Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E #11
- New writer Matt Kindt is composing a very nice story and I can’t wait to see where it goes. I mean Frankie gets swallowed by a giant whale-like beast that contains an entire city inside of it. Come on that sounds cool, Plus Alberto Ponticelli art is beyond stellar!
10. Locke & Key HC Vol. 05 Clockworks
- My friend from California actually bought me the first trade a while ago and I haven’t stopped talking about this series. I HIGHLY recommend this series to anyone if you are a fan of good writing, suspense, action, and amazing art. Locke & Key FTW!
