“By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth!” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” November 4th, 2016.
The sorcerer supreme will be a part of what has been dubbed Marvels phase 3. Bringing the Ancient Ones disciple to life, starring in both Sherlock and Star Trek Into Darkness, Benedict Cumberbatch. Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie in 2014, after winning the BAFTA/LA Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year in 2013.
Beating out fan favorites such as Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix, Cumberbatch will be playing Dr. Stephen Strange, whose mention in Captain America: The winter soldier has stirred much excitement for the master of the mystic arts.
All plot information has been kept in the dark dimension though Feige has been quoted as saying “It takes a while to work on these movies before they’re ready to come to you in theaters. Doctor Stephen Strange, brilliant neurosurgeon, bit of an arrogant fellow who gets in a car accident and ruins what he thinks are the tools of his trade: his hands. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the supernatural, that involves everything from quantum mechanics to string theory. The idea of this film is to open up a whole new corner of the cinematic universe. We want to enter, through Strange, the world of parallel dimensions.”
With the Eye of Agamotto, Book of the Vishanti, Cloak of Levitation and many more ancient artifacts Cumberbatch will become the mightiest magician in the cosmos.
