Last week Electronic Arts and Maxis announced that they would be giving away a free game to purchasers of SimCity as a thank you, or apology, for dealing with the game’s launch issues.
Today they released the list:
- Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
- Bejeweled 3
- Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
- Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
- Medal of Honor Warfighter (Standard Edition)
- Need For Speed Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
- Plants vs. Zombies
- SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition
Honestly, the list is fairly disappointing, though expected. Personally I will probably be picking up a copy of Mass Effect 3, if for no other reason than I already own the first two parts of the trilogy on PC.
Personally I had hoped to see an option to get some free DLC for SimCity. I would have also accepted the latest The Sims 3 expansion, simply so I don’t have to pay for another broken game that I want to play.
While the list may be disappointing, I do want to remind everyone that EA didn’t really have to do anything. They simply could have shrugged, had Maxis fix the game, and moved on with their lives. It’s a nice gesture no matter how you look at it.
If you purchased, or intend to purchase SimCity make sure that you register your copy before March 25th, 2013 at 11:59 PM PDT. You will have through March 30th, 2013 at 11:59PM PDT to claim your free game.
