When Jack in the Box reached out to us and asked us to review their new late night menu I thought it was little strange to be honest with you, but I’m always up for a challenge and I love doing weird things, plus adding “Jack in the Box food review” to my writing resume sounds pretty cool. They were gracious enough to send out a Jack Ca$h Card so that I may purchase one of their “Munchie Meals” so that I may review for you, our most awesome of readers. The Munchie Meals are only available after 9pm so I thought it was perfect to head over to Jack in the Box after a movie screening. The movie was not so great, but the food, not surprisingly, was pretty good.
Let me start off by saying that this meal housed way too much food for myself, and I can eat a lot. I probably could have shared it with my girlfriend, but I’m selfish, so I didn’t. I opted for the Stacked Grilled Cheeseburger because whenever I’m eating a cheeseburger I think, “you know what this needs? A grilled cheese.” As the name implies, instead of a bun encasing your meat patty, it’s two grilled cheese sammies. Yes, you read that right. But do not fret, it is actually quite delicious. In fact, the next time I grill up some burgers at my place I’m also going to make some grilled cheese so I can replicate this delicacy. And in case you were wondering, yes, I make the best grilled cheese ever and, no, you can’t argue with that.
Each meal includes two regular tacos, a soft drink, and probably one of the best inventions ever, halfsies. What are halfsies? Well, you know when you order curly fries and there is always one or two regular fries in there and they taste so much better because they’re like stowaways? Halfsies are like that except done on purpose.
The food itself is contained in a convenient box complete with a “spin the taco” game on the lid, which, depending on things, can be really fun or completely miserable.
If you find yourself hungry enough that you need one of these munchies meals you have four options to choose from. The Stacked Grilled Cheeseburger, which was my choice. Loaded Nuggets, which are covered in two types of cheese with ranch and bacon. Exploding Cheesy Chicken, a chicken sandwich with mozzarella, cheesy sticks, and gooey white cheese sauce. And the Bruch Burger, a burger with a fired egg and a crispy hash brown. I personally want to try all of them, but I will definitely be sharing next time.
