Taiyou Con is a three-day anime based convention that will be in Mesa Arizona from January 4th through January 6th. It’s being held at the lovely Mesa Hilton, which will comfortably accommodate con-goers for the busy weekend. The convention was lucky enough to get a wonderful assortment of guests. These guests will be a wide array of voice acting talent and cosplayers. Lauren Landa who is most noted for her voice acting talent as Litchi Faye Ling in Blazblue: Continuum Shift, Sonny Strait who voiced Krillin from Dragonball Z, Chris Guerrero who was the narrator from the anime Toriko, Cristina Vee who voiced Mio in the anime K-ON!, and Maridah, a popular cosplayer who is widely recognized for her wonderful rendition of Saber from Fate Stay Night.
The three-day event has more than just a talented assortment of guests, it will also be the host of some very interesting panels. Hello Batty and her maid café, At Your Service, will be providing an enjoyable affair and a some much-needed pampering to tired con-goers on Saturday. Smoldering Flame Cosplay, a local Arizona cosplayer, will be running the Nyotalia Cosplay Café on Friday, a gender swapped version of the famous anime Hetalia, where guests can meet with their favorite characters and get food and drink. Well known Lolitas Cherise Kellogg and Chelsea Hauston will be running the Wicked Circus, a Lolita tea party that will have games, food, and prizes on Sunday!
If you just want to see some amazing cosplay and fashion, well, Taiyou has you covered for that as well. On Friday, Poison Sugar, local Lolita fashion designer, will be running the J-Fashion Show. It will be a display of designers and artists showing off fun fashions inspired by Japan. Poison Sugar and Cake Shop Couture will both have pieces in the show, and booths at the con, if you want to pick yourself up something pretty. The famous Masquerade will show off some of the best cosplays of the con on Saturday night. Go check out some of the best handmaid costumes in Arizona!
Now, if you just want to dance the night away and listen to some awesome music, Taiyou has two raves going on this year. Touhou Rave will be Friday night and GNN’s own Hong Le will be showing off his DJ skills for you all to enjoy. Saturday, if you still have the need to dance till you can’t feel anymore, the Adventure Time Rave will let you boogey in Ooo till your heart’s content.
