Critically acclaimed indie darling Hollow Knight is getting a sequel. The developers at Team Cherry recently announced their second title, Hollow Knight: Silksong will release on PC, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch first, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions releasing at a later date. This title was original a stretch goal in the initial Kickstarter campaign, promising a full DLC campaign starring a different character. Development on this new campaign started right at the release of the original and was shaping up to be quite the generous offering for a post release piece of content.

Well, the team decided that wasn’t good enough for their fans, so they went all out and created enough new content for a full release. Hollow Knight: Silksong stars Hornet, the fan favorite heroine of Hollow Knight. She is incredibly nimble and acrobatic, giving her the abilities required to explore an all new kingdom filled with different enemies, locales, and secrets to discover. New to this entry is a crafting system allowing Hornet to amass an arsenal of weapons and useful items to help on her adventure. Also new is an added questing system, where inhabitants will request favors to find treasures, uncover mysteries, and hunt vicious beasts

I personally had a lot of issues with the original Hollow Knight, more nitpicks than anything, but was enamored with the setting and characters (Hornet was one of my favorites). Silksong appears to solve a lot of the issues I had and I’m finding myself genuinely excited for this new adventure. By the way, if you were a Kickstarter backer, this one’s on the house. That’s amazingly generous and respectful of the developers, so kudos to Team Cherry for that, and for crafting a new, full blown experience from nothing but a promise.
