Oh man, everyone, I’m not usually a big huge fan of dieselpunk, but this reboot of the 90s RPG game Mutant Chronicles, looks so amazing! The game might not ring many bells with those who live in the United States, as Mutant Chronicles seems to have a bigger following in the United Kingdom, but I urge everyone from everywhere to check out this reboot as soon as they can! The Kickstarter has already been fully funded, but with 20 days still to go before it ends, there is still plenty of time to join in the fun and get some of the awesome goodies they have for those who support them.
Mutant Chronicles is a RPG game set in the 25th century, and from what I’ve seen so far, it is a grisly, civilization-on-the-verge-of-collapse, kind of game. Technology is failing, due to the evils of the Dark Symmetry, and humans have to fight for survival against the Dark Hordes that have begun to attack in the wake of technological failures.  It originally came out in the 90’s, but the group who started their Kickstarter, Modiphius, is working to re-work the game’s original rules, adding new content and further expanding on the gritty world of the Mutant Chronicles. They’re raising money to pay for stunning full colour, hard cover books for the settings and rule books starting with the rules and setting book Mutant Chronicles: Dark Symmetry. They plan to deliver the core book PDF in July, and the print version in August. Backers will receive pre-print PDF’s to assist with proof reading in June. There are tons of other sweet gifts and incentives to thank those who help to support this kickstarter, and I honestly think I’ll be joining them again, as this game looks too fantastic to pass up!
The founder of Modiphius, Chris Birch, is a huge fan of Mutant Chronicles, and his enthusiasm has certainly crossed over to his dedication to providing the best for those who want to join in the fight against the Dark Symmetry in this fantastic reworking of a classic RPG game. If anyone is worried that it will be way different from the original Mutant Chronicles, fear not. Modiphius is dedicated to preserving the spirit and original storylines of the original, and have been working tirelessly to provide new content as well as making the rules more enjoyable for the gamers of today. Their work is sure to provide more excitement for the loyal fans from the 90’s, as well as appeal to their new fans! So if you love a gritty, cinematic RPG game, I strongly recommend this game when it comes out in it’s new splendor!
