The world renowned fighting game tournament known as the EVO Championship series is slated to officially happen on July 14-16 in Las Vegas, Nevada this year. Players tuned in to Twitch on Tuesday night, to see what games would be a part of the official lineup this year.

Tournament coordinator Joey Cuellar sat down alongside EVO business developer Mark Julio and well-known fighting game community member Mike Ross on the RedBull Esports Twitch channel to discuss the details for the event. All of the official games to be played were revealed:

  • Street Fighter V
  • Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2
  • Super Smash Bros. Wii U
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee
  • Injustice 2
  • BlazBlue: Central Fiction
  • Tekken 7
  • King of Fighters XIV

The roster shows quite a few differences from last year. Cuellar discussed during the livestream that to assuage the shift from older games to newer titles, a ninth tournament would be hosted, and the game was up to the fans to decide.

For players or fans to vote, they need only make a charitable contribution on Generosity in favor of one of a collection of games. The titles available for voting are: Killer Instinct, Nidhogg, Windjammers, ARMS, Pokken Tournament, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat XL, Skullgirls, and Street Fighter II Turbo.

The game that nets the ninth spot would also be getting a reported $10,000 guaranteed prize pot, as well as first run on the finals stage at Mandalay Bay on Sunday of the event. All donations are going to the charity Make-A-Wish International, Cuellar said during the stream.
