To all who come to this happy place, Welcome! Disneyland is your land.
Disneyland celebrated its 63rd birthday just a couple of weeks ago on Tuesday, July 17th, 2018! Sixty-three years ago, on July 17, 1955, an amazing man by the name of Walt Disney brought to life his dream of a place where children and adults can have fun in a magical world full of adventure, fantasy, and the future. The park was completely different then compared to now with different attractions as well as some of our favorites to this day. We have seen how Disneyland has grown into two different parks and has expanded its rides and shows. Disneyland is now a whole new experience. While Disneyland’s opening day was far from a success at the time, Disneyland has become a worldwide favorite and dubbed the happiest place on Earth.
Disneyland celebrated its birthday with a pre-parade before the Pixar play parade for Pixar Fest. The parade started with Walt’s dedication speech and featured many Disney characters that we no longer see in the Disney parks such as Pocahontas, John Smith, Max, Pinocchio, and Jane from Tarzan. The pre-parade consisted of over 60 characters as well as the fab five Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. We also saw many of our loved Pixar friends like Doug and Russel. The Dapper Dans led the crowd in singing Happy Birthday to Disneyland as the parade made its way from Small World down to Mainstreet U.S.A. The pre-parade happened twice, both times were right before the Pixar Play Parade. There were also several spots to take Happy Birthday Disneyland celebration photos throughout the park. You can check out some videos of the parade on YouTube.
If you want to celebrate Disneyland’s birthday plan a trip for July 17th, 2019! It should be a lot of fun! You can always plan your trip ahead of time using Disney’s website. Happy Birthday, Disneyland! Here is to many more happy years! What is your favorite memory of Disneyland? Let us know!
