I had the privilege of attending the June 10 stop on Weird Al’s Strings Attached Tour at the venerable Hard Rock Live venue in Orlando, Florida.
When it comes to movies, comedy is perhaps my favorite genre. However, I’m pretty picky when it comes to my funny movies. For example, I didn’t love Fargo or The Big Lebowski as much as most people seem to like them.
Since I can remember, the 1992 Disney version of Aladdin has always been my favorite animated feature film. As a kid I fell in love with the intriguing story, the over-the-top characters, and the incredibly memorable songs.
In this era of superhero movies dominating the box office, Hellboy gives us a gritty, gorefest standout amongst the clutter of spandex. But the over reliance on the gore for shock value's sake knocks the movie off course and relegates the movie to the campiness reminiscent of Van Helsing and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.
